Homenagem

Há 2 semanas, no final da minha volta dei-me conta que o meu colete corta-vento está a ficar velhote.

O colarinho começa está a abrir e um dos fechos pura e simplesmente desfez-se (felizmente é do bolso que menos uso).

Este colete tem anos de uso, foi uma oferta dos meus pais nos meus inicios no BTT. Na altura do inovador tecido Windstopper (que ainda hoje está na berra). Como é das versões antigas, é bem grossinho e bom nos dias realmente frios (ou seja todo o inverno em Portugal e Outono e Primavera por cá).

Tornou-se rapidamente a minha peça favorita de vestuário ciclista e ainda hoje o é. A maioria dos coletes hoje em dia são finos, não têm bolsos, este tem 2 belos bolsos. E eu adoro ter muitos bolsos, pois tenho a mania de levar material para qualquer eventualidade.

Já me serviu em centenas de locais e eventos, TransPortugal, TransAlps, SRP 160, PTG 100, passeios em Porutgal, Espanha e Inglaterra.

Hoje foi um dos fechos que deu de si, com os mais de 10 anos que tem é possivel que em breve seja algo mais... Mas como este não sei se encontro algum, por isso vou fazer o possivel para o manter em bom estado, para que me sirva em muitas mais aventuras. E mesmo quando deixar de ser utilizável não me livro dele, tem demaisadas boas recordações associadas a ele...




2 weeks ago, at the end of my ride I noticed that my wind stopping vest is getting old.


The collar is beginning to fray and one of the zippers just fell apart today (luckily it's the one i use the lest).


It has years of use, it was an offer from my parents as I was starting my MTB explorations. On the then innovative Windstopper fabric (still pretty famous today). It's one of the old versions of it, so it's thick and perfect for chilly days (so all winter in Portugal and autumn and spring in England).


It quickly became my favorite piece riding kit, as it is today. Most of today's vests are thin and have no pockets, this one has 2 nice deep ones. And I love having plenty of pockets, you will usually find them full with wallet, phone, food, spare stuff... I motto is "always be prepared".

I have used it in hundreds of events and placas, TransPortugal, TranAples, SRP 160, PTG 100, rides in Portugal, Spain and UK.


Today one of it's zippers had it's last breath... With the more than 10 years it has, other things might follow. But I don't know if I can ever find any other as good, so will try my best to keep it in for as long as possible.

Even when it has it's end, I doubt if I can ever get rid of it. I have too many fond memories attached to it...
