The first weekend of November was once again time to share a ride with the RPCC. The plan was for a relaxed ride through slightly different than usual routes and finish with a pub lunch, we were calling it "ride of the falling leaves".

Unfortunately it was just a plan, the GPS track of the route had been divulged but none of the present (that includes me) had it. Only it's planner had it in his mind but 15 minutes after the agreed start time (9h) he still wasn't there and we decided to leave and do our usual ride.

There were 5 of us and quickly started to try and warm ourselves up, London's mornings are already quite chilly... It's funny how in just 2 weeks I changed from thinking if it's worth taking the knee warmers to think if I should take 2 or 3 layers and end up taking the 3...

But truth be said, I love to ride my bike in the cold, as long as I have decent clothes... The cold wind in my face feels like bliss, just a shame that around here it's usually associated with rain and wet roads... And I've had my number of crashes this winter. The fact that in Portugal it doesn't rain much probably didn't help...

Hopefully that will change while I'm here, just need to now if my winter crash rate will improve before next summer... Might also be the way for me to return to MTBing. My MTB steed is starting to have spider webs and as RPCC rides begin to have less participants I'm starting to think that winter rides might be scarce...

As for the saturday's ride, it ended up being a semi-long one, not far from the usual... Out of the ordinary was the state in which I finished it... At the start of the ride I was already feeling a bit weird but after a quick test on the first climb, ended up trying the spare my unfueled body from unnecessary efforts but when we reached Box Hill I was already the slowest and at our tea and cake stop (not on the usual place due to an invasion of runners due to an event finishing there) I was nice and tired. Decided not to eat, which only put me in a worst spot... As we returned to Richmond I could hardly hold any wheel and bonked in such a way that I wasn´t even thinking straight.

I hadn't reached that state for several years... So worn out that my reflexes where slow and I couldn't focus on the riding. I've been riding bikes for some years and if on the first ones this would be easy to happen, with what I've learnt and with what my body has adjusted to the effort I thought that it could never happen again. But I was wrong and if you don't train you will never be fast...
