BTT à séria

Photobucket

Yesterday, friday the 19th, was another mountain biking training day. Previously a patient had already told me about Dorking. I did some internet research and found some tracks. Waited for a few more weeks for availability from work and yesterday was the day.

The information on the site said 60km, a reasonable distance for a days riding. Just had to hope that the track would make sense in the field.

Got out of home at 9h30, 17min travel to Clapham Junction e caught the 10h03 train to Dorking. Start at 9h30, your slouching around, you may think, but everithing has a reason. London is a city of comuters, it was a week day and the rush hour finishes at 9h30, after this it's cheaper to travel (on weekends it's all day) and you can take your bike in the train without any problems. You end up getting home later, but I think it's a better compromise.

After a 45min trip I was at Dorking and after the first minutes to set my directions, started going to my chosen track. It didn´t start at Dorking, but it was near enough. And as soon as I entered the track, a nice start, Box Hill.. One of the famous climbs around London, which I've ridden on my road bike quite a few times. But now trough the dirt, much more direct to the top. Nicew start. A few pictures of the scenery and down the hill I go. Things got even better... Singletracks...

The day was spent up and down most of the hills in the area (Box Hill, Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill...) with a lot of singletracks in the mix quite a few nice climbs. It's not the Alps, but it is very similar to serra de Grândola.

The trails were far enough from civilazation, but even so I managed to see several biker, in the afternoon period. On one of the hills I had my late lunch, awesome...

A repeat will happen soon.

Vou continuar a sonhar.

    See you soon my friend
